I am a second-generation Japanese American from Detroit, Michigan. While thoroughly a Michigander, my Japanese roots remain a core part of who I am.
I became a Christian in high school through a local youth group. As I grew in my faith, God placed a burden on my heart for the great need of the gospel of Jesus Christ among Japanese people. After graduating from the University of Michigan where I studied biomedical engineering and asian studies, I took a leap to Japan in what I thought would be a gap-year before returning to the US for a Masters degree. It was during that one year in Japan as an intern at CBI that God clarified my calling to pastoral ministry. I remained at CBI to earn a Masters in Divinity while continuing to serve at local churches in Nagoya, Japan.
Currently I serve as the Special Projects Manager at CBI, where I get to think creatively and plan diligently how we can grow as an organization that equips Christians in Japan for the work of Gospel ministry.
In my free time I enjoy reading, running, skiing, board games, coffee, and chasing after the best bowl of ramen.
